24/02/2026 - A #5MinMerlin at lunchtime on a quick bob to the shop. Usual place by the burn. The app picked up 11 birds in the 5 minutes from the same spot. Silent Mike the moorhen was as quiet as ever by the burn. One day it will say hello to me!

@Spaceways 30 for me in just over an hour walking down a canal towpath.

I didn't have a Pink-footed Goose or Song Thrush (surprising really, I was close to some super habitat for them) but I did pick up (although not spot visually) a Green Woodpecker

@naturepunk 30, wow that's a good number! We've a lot of pink-foot round here but I've never seen or heard a green woodpecker ever. They are not common up here in NE Scotland sadly. You got many redwing or fieldfare about this winter? They seem low numbers here this year. Plenty noisy blackbirds though 😃

@Spaceways not many in the areas I spend most of my time. A few in the area of Cannock Chase but I haven't been there since December.

We seem to be coming out of a low point for Blackbirds down here so I'm glad to hear them again.

Most of the pink-footed I see are on park ponds. They don't even seem to like the more natural ponds in the area. I think they like a bit of a cheap feed :)
