Hungary has blocked the EU from imposing sanctions on violent Israeli settlers in the West Bank, while also halting a 20th sanctions package against Russia and a major loan to Ukraine. In response, EU High Representative Kaja Kallas criticized the EU's requirement for unanimous agreement, arguing that allowing a single member state to overrule the other 26 creates a "tyranny of the single vote" that severely hinders the bloc's foreign policy and human rights efforts.

Hungary, represented by Minister Péter Szijjártó, also blocked the 20th package of sanctions against Russia and withdrew its approval for the maxi-loan to Ukraine agreed by leaders in December.

@eunews

There are times when a democratic majority can impose tyranny on under-represented minorities, & times when a majority should be enough to stop rogues from blocking justice & progress.

@eunews Note that Hungary is curently under the boot of their own Fascist dictator Viktor Orban. That regime should not be allowed to vote at all on EU matters or anything else
@eunews
Orban's Russian paymaster has learned the lesson of the collapse of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and is applying it to the EU.

@eunews ...fascist governments shall have zero rights to block democratic countries' deciscions
