@Donthatedontkill

Here are my servers rules. With some comments on my reasoning in brackets [].

No "hate speech", speech that expresses a form of prejudice or threatens people of protected characteristics (such as age, disability, ethnicity, gender, pregnancy, religion, sex or sexuality).

No Calls to violence. Any individual promoting violence towards any person or group.

No harassment. If a user explicitly asks you to disengage, you should.

[These are ”standard” rules to me. They are self-evident but must be written. Also the 3rd rule needs saying because sometimes you engage in the comments and people ask you to stop or use Replyguy tactics.]

Nudity involving the genitals, sexual acts, or pornography is not allowed.

[There are so many places and servers that allow this, my server isn’t needed]

No content illegal in Sweden. The server is here, we will abide by Swedish law.

All bots must respect the #nobot tag and must post unlisted.

Posts intended for commercial advertisement purposes must be posted with the #ad tag or unlisted.

[These 2 with tags is purposed so that people can choose to avoid content. I don’t say no to bots or ads, just that they need to say what it is.]

Spam is not permitted, this includes creating spam accounts that only serve to provide profile links or advertise products and services.

You may not impersonate a person or brand without a clear indication the account is unofficial and/or a parody. Parody accounts are permitted, as are legitimate brand accounts. Especially if you’re funny.

[Companies are as ubiquitous as people, so they are allowed as well as those that make fun of them or others. But it has to be clear.]

No attacks against (or from) the instance. You may not do anything which may impact confidentiality, integrity or availability of this server, the users of the service or their data

User accounts whose only activity consisted of registration, but did not post anything or follow anybody or interact with the fediverse in any other way might be deleted after a short period of time. This is in order to prevent bot activity.

[This last was added a few months after I started since I noticed accounts that did not engage with anyone. So I started sending out warnings after a few months of inactivity, like you don’t post, you don’t follow anyone. In the warning which I send to the registered email I also include information on how to get help and what to do in case they can’t figure out how to get going and say they are welcome to talk to me personally to help them get going. Also, registration has to be approved by admin which has removed all spambots that register accounts.]

Wow! Thanks a lot! This is extremely helpful. Thank you so much!!
