Genocide denial and denial of war crimes is illegal in Germany*. Except if it’s Israel commiting them while enriching the German state through weapons sales**. Then it’s sacrosanct.

Isn’t it fascinating to learn about different cultures and what makes them so unique and exciting?

Germany criminalizes denying war crimes, genocide

Holocaust denial has long been illegal in Germany, but a new amendment also criminalizes the denial of other war crimes and genocides — wherever they happen.

@aral In Germany, it's illegal to accuse Israel of genocide, even when factual.
@androcat @aral OH: The Germans well never forgive the Jews for what they did to them...

@aral

I guess you refer to:

»Abdallah Alkhatib accused the German government of being a partner in what he termed "the genocide in the Gaza Strip." Israel denies committing genocide – which is also the position of the German government – and speaks of self-defence.

German Environment Minister Carsten Schneider [only representative of the German federal government at the gala] distanced himself from Alkhatib's pro-Palestinian remarks & left the hall during his speech.«

@stekopf Oh no, that’s just one example among many. Germany is the 2nd largest arms dealer for Israel’s genocide after the US.

@aral

It just got some attention here recently and highlighted your point.

@aral as a german: many germans who are not benefiting from any arms deals still just can't think straight on this subject matter. so very embarrassing.
@aral it is like a particular kind of narcissism where they think german history is the only thing that matters in the world.
@kali @aral Narcissism? The tremendous burden of the Holocaust seems to cause a knee-jerk repression.

@aral
It is de facto outlawed in Germany to accuse Israel of genocide.
Where I live, people had their homes raided or were prosecuted for it.
An associate of mine got prosecuted for calling out the US aiding in genocide. Another one got barred for life from working as a teacher for calling zionism a fascist ideology.

And that's if you're white. If you're not, brace for being assaulted by zionist "leftists".

@aral
And the wider public does not carry that because of some fanatic belief in zionism. But because they cannot fathom the fact that white people can commit genocide. (Ironic, isn't it).

People will say shit like "but Namibia was before the german state existed so it wasn't us" and "Armenia, that was the Turkish alone and also not a *real* genocide".
