I welcome Trump voters changing, but I am getting really tired of hearing, "I didn't vote for this."

@augieray America would have the same policies no matter who got in. Politicians serve their donors, that's not the American people, it's corporations, special interest groups and the rich, it's a democracy for them not you and theirs is the only "vote" that matters which has any real bearing on government policy

Americans are so focused on the fake left vs. right divide, they fail to notice who is pulling the strings, or why no party delivers for the people or why things get worse year on year

@Rastal This is the dumbest response of the week. Same policies? If Harris had been elected, we'd have saner trade policies, ICE would not be policing our street and shooting Americans in the head, we wouldn't have cut taxes on billionaires again, we wouldn't be threatening Greenland and our allies, and thousands of federal workers would still be employed. I hate the whole "left and right are the same BS."
@augieray @Rastal
Yes and no. Clearly, one party is far worse than the other, but fundamentally both are neoliberal, both are failing to address the real structural problems in America (and to some extent globally).
The power of the ultra-rich (both individuals and corporations) is destroying democracy and wrecking the environment too.

@KimSJ @augieray @Rastal

We get what we (don’t) vote for. The Democratic Party pulled right bc that’s what works on a national level, between the Electoral college, voter suppression, and people who vote based on the price of eggs. Left voters don’t show up on a regular basis. Most have no patience for the incremental slow change of govt. Biden’s environmental policies were real progress. Now the EPA is dead. It matters.

@lucybeahere
I think you seriously underestimate the power of dark money to alter voter behaviour.

@KimSJ

Not at all. But I’m not willing to give up and say it’s hopeless. There is no easy way out.

@KimSJ

This is the root of the problems, the focus on obtaining money, power, and privileges. It happens on all political 'sides', all over the world. I don't know what is needed to change it, but I do what I can, am very tired, and sometimes fear only a global atrocity will finally put an end to this. Human nature though is not likely to change and the hunger for above goals are so strong that they should be controlled via proper global laws and full transparency.

@augieray @Rastal

@augieray Yes. Listen to AOC in Munich. Then listen to Rubio in Munich. They are saying exactly the same thing. All they do, all they ever do, is spin the narrative differently to their audience, but then do the same. Continuity of agenda.

As for ICE, more migrants were deported under Obama than Trump. Trump's audience responds better to theatre so that's what is provided, Obama's audience wanted this muted so it was. But it's the same thing happening regardless, irrespective of the framing.
