Why do I keep having nightmares about school? Either I'm sitting in a class and am completely unable to process the information being said, or I'm on my way to an exam and can't remember what's on it, or where it is. Last night was at least the third or fourth time I can consciously remember having a dream like that, and I'm sure there were more before I lowkey started trying to count them.

Not sure where these dreams are coming from, since overall I didn't do too bad in school. There were definitely rough spots, everything from feeling isolated and alone in a class I couldn't follow but everyone else seemed to be fine with, to meltdowns over assignments, to a bit of cheating when I didn't think I could pass if I played fair. But still, I had more decent experiences than bad ones, and in the end everything turned out okay. I didn't even start having these dreams until well after I graduated. So yeah... Not sure what my silly brain is doing.

@musicalman excuse me I did not realize I wasn't following your account here. Bad bad me. But yeah I've started recently as in over the past year or two having really strange school related dreams myself. They usually consist somehow of an entire damn school day, where things usually end up going pretty damn strange and wrong almost right away.

@Bri @musicalman I've had weird school dreams since about three years after I graduated, but lately, it's the last day of school, I'm my current age, and I'm sitting in English class posting on Mastodon that I'm still in school for some reason, and I don't know why, but everyone else seems cool with it.

Or sometimes, school is out for the summer, but I got left behind with no way to get home. Then I realize I have no home, and this is just my life now.

There usually isn't actually much about the mechanics of school itself.

@BorrisInABox @musicalman oh god, I've had a shit ton of dreams that consist of me being left behind at school after a school day or whatever, those are just freaky
@Bri @musicalman Yeah. That's never actually happened, but I was at school at 11:30 PM a couple of times, which was really, really strange. No, I didn't go to a residential school, where that would at least have made a little more sense.
@BorrisInABox @musicalman oh, I had a dream one time where I had a normal school day, but it started at like 8 PM and went to like, midnight or 1 AM, that was a weird one.
@BorrisInABox @musicalman the worst dreams for me were the ones where things would happen normally, but they would not be at all at the right time they should've been.
@Bri @musicalman The even weirder ones are when you have no actual frame of reference for what time it is in life, something happens in a dream at a very specific time, like, I dunno, 5:49 AM. Then you wake up and check the time, and it's 5:49 AM. You know damn well you didn't check the time before that.
@BorrisInABox @musicalman oh gooooood yes, that has happened to me a few times.

@Bri @BorrisInABox Lol I haven't had any of that, my dreams are always in the category of, "I don't know what the hell I'm doing but I know it's important for me to be here."

Probably the most bizarre one I had was having to improvize my way through a classical concert. I was supposed to have learned the piano part, but I had no idea how the piece went, so I had to listen to the orchestra and noodle around. Um... Yeah, this isn't jazz, that isn't how you're supposed to do that.

The weirdest part though was that some random girl approached me afterward to admire my effort. Turns out she was another pianist who just happened to learn that piece for whatever reason and could play it better than I ever could, and next thing I knew I had a crush on her over that, and it was starting to get interesting in ways that only dreams do, when I woke up. Ngl, I really liked that dream, but it's the only dream I can remember that started off icky and got better. Lol

@BorrisInABox @Bri @musicalman I've had this happen many, many times... Very creepy...
