max is describing his path to awareness and concern
which is as valid as anyone's path, including yours
we all have a path in this world to awareness of injustice and suffering. none is better than any other, as long as the destination is the same
don't be an asshole to other people about their path. i would like to examine yours and shit all over it too. nah, i wouldn't do that. because i'm not like you. your condescension is part of the horrors in the world
@daniellatz @maxleibman what a sad, miserable little perspective you have. I would almost feel bad for you if it weren't a choice you make.
We want the world to be better than the festering shithole of ignorance and hopelessness that you portray, so we act to make it thus. We care for members in our community who are unjustly targeted, and will defend their rights as if they were our own, because they are.
You could choose to make reality a little less shitty, instead of a little more.

Most of us have some hobby or favorite activity we do to keep ourselves sane amid the pressures of daily living and the increasing political madness that is the USA. For me, it’s performing in community theater, and that’s where I met Perry (a pseudonym). At 17, Perry was the youngest transgender person I’d ever known. Today, he and every trans person in the U.S. is in danger.
That's a good line, is that original?
Sadly no, Ed Byrne said it.
@maxleibman
Yeah, trans rights are human rights regardless of whether you know & love any trans people personally.
But when you do have trans folks you love... Well, it makes you want to fight anybody who would hurt them.
I spoke out for trans rights when I didn't have any (out) trans friends, but I have several now, & it puts a fire inside me. I fight for them.
Not always. I have to stay away from my family, cos they still hope (think) I made a mistake, and maybe one day I realise this and go back. I've not spoken to my mum, for a year and a half now. 21 years transitioned, and cos I mentioned my depression was ticking up again the other year, she was back with the "hopeful" question of did I think I'd made a mistake.
Fuck . That. Shit.
So no, just cos people know trans folk, doesn't mean they'll come out to bat for them.
@latelesley
I hope it did not feel like I was invalidating your experience. If it did, I apologize.
I am genuinely sorry that your loved ones are unwilling to accept you in your wholeness. That is such a heavy thing to carry for so long. 💜
I meant that love is a powerful force that gives people courage. Some people put their fears, wishes, & desires ahead of their love for someone. Doesn't mean that they don't love, but they are not acting in love when they do that.
@latelesley
You deserve love that is better than that. You don't just deserve to be accepted: you deserve to be FOUGHT FOR. You really do.
You are worthy of the kind of love that will not let up & I am so sorry that people in your life have not lived up to that.
Och, you weren't invalidating my experience. None of it is in any way your fault, quite the opposite. Your fighting for oppressed folk when you even don't know them!
I'm just pointing out though, that not all trans people have folk in their life who know them, will fight for them and their rights, and in a lot of cases will just victim blame instead. Cos that's easier, right? How dare us be different from everyone else, and still demand some basic respect.
Keep fighting the good fight, we need folk like you more than ever.
But just remember, not all trans peeps have supportive friends and family. A lot still have to deal with families who think we live our lives "wrong" and undermine your identity at every turn.
@maxleibman it _is_ personal - attacking trans people is an attack on everyone's right to personhood. Fuck these TERF assholes with a splintery post.
TRANS RIGHTS ARE HUMAN RIGHTS. ✊

What is this Facebook?

@maxleibman I love how it worked out. The bit annoyed the crap out of me, but it allowed me to practice not replying when I have nothing positive to add.
The obvious, and presumably intentional false dichotomy can be appropriately reacted to by doing exactly nothing.
Art should provoke emotion. It did and it gave your great point a lot of reach. Everybody wins, even trolls that get educated 👏👏👏
@maxleibman i agree
And i love you @jaz
@maxleibman
Of course they are. Human Rights belong to all humans.
Those who wish to deny other humans human rights are welcome to secede from the human race if it bothers them.
@maxleibman comment if this post had sent your autistic brain in a 5 minute spiral because you agree with trans rights but disagree with forced social interaction.
/irony for "comment if..."
/genuine for "i commented because..."
@maxleibman this toot contains an unwritten rule, one MUST boost each time one encounters this toot. If one has already boosted, remove the boost and boost again
Sorry, I didn't write the rules
Exactly 😁
This is excellent strategy. Effecient. 😂
@maxleibman @chu I see what you did there 😁.
Once they block you they can't troll you. Excellent! 🤭👍
