@OliviaVespera It' just me and others hypin' it out of genuine love for #CyberSix as a show.

  • I frustratingly failed to buy the only sub-$100 BD for it I could find in stock.
    • I'm frustrated enough to literally write TMS, NOA & DiskoTek Media to ask them for either a #PAL - Region #BluRay rerelease or just a legal way to obtain a copy.

Seriously, it also has a shitton of #LostMedia.

  • like the full lenght Intro Song as recorded with Cora Egan as singer.
    • Tho granted the lack of new, legal copies for all 3 media types (Not just the Anime, but also Comic and Live-Action - Show) makes it worse than #Abandonware to a degree.

@OliviaVespera One can really see that this was made with love, skill and budget...

  • Cuz the entire production was close to $5M (US I guess) for 13 episodes + pilot.
    • That puts it's cost per episode deep into #SpongeBob terrory which we can agree is way easier to market globally and across age groups (I mean, a yellow sponge is sellable even in heavily censored juristictions!)

OFC they took the original #CyberSix #comic and obviously didn't go with a 1:1 translation because it's obviously too mature...

  • I heard about it remotely when it was on TV (cuz that happens when a 7 year old in Germany learns to use IRC in 1999), but I forgot about it since then.
    • Espechally since it's not really easy to find except realizing it's not Carmen Sandiego...
    • Also AFAICT it only got screened in #France (or at least it's only #Europe|an #DVD release was there!) and since it didn't succeed in the #USA, it never even came up on the table for licensees in other places...

AFAIK the only markets it got shown besides #Canada were #Argentinia and #Japan, tho allegedly also #Italy and #France, which obviously I could've never stumbled upon as - unlike #Germany - their #TV signals are fully encrypted and oftentimes not even on the 19,2°E position, so I could've never zapped into it.

@OliviaVespera Speaking of doing a #WatchParty:

  • I do know multiple possible venues for that (in my area), but OFC that would be contingent on securing #licensing for an audience screening and having some talks, but generally I could get anything from Super8 to CinemaDNG-RAW played back (or at least transfered beforehand) somewhow...

I'd certainly love to do, but it's not like I can "just eMail TMS & NOA and ask them for a license term sheet to screen #CyberSix..."

  • I mean, I'd love to, but I do expect them to demand either a hefty upfront payment and/or residuals per viewer.
    • I don't run a #cinema, but obviously they don't make money on a €10+ ticket, but the supersized Nachos, Popcorn and Drinks.
