✨ A Little (About) Joy ✨

One of my first jobs was working at my uncle's Renaissance Faire catapult booth! I made $32/day including lunch and have the best memories of those summers. It was an early lesson in spreading joy!

What was your first job?

@joyousjoyness that's so cool! Aside from babysitting, my first job was working the counter at a drug store. I did a lot of counting out penny candy for kids clutching handfuls of change and putting it in a paper bag
@Bikil aww that's cool!

At 13, I started working at the corner store in my neighborhood after school for a couple hours, earning $5/day.

When summer came, I was a swimming teacher and Junior Lifeguard (volunteer). But it led to my becoming a paid Lifeguard at 16 for three summers.

Yours looks preferable. :'D
@thejikz woahhh that's tough!
@joyousjoyness How fun, a catapult!
My first job not counting baby sitting was bussing tables at the local Perkins, so unglamorous and so far from a catapult!
We had to wear stiff cotton shirts that snapped at the crotch (so the shirt would stay tucked in?!).
The thought of it does make me smile, thank you!
@joyousjoyness I was 15 when I did morning shift in the gas station kitchen. I baked pastries, filled sandwiches etc at 5 in the morning before opening at 6.30 and then helped the chef prepare and serve lunch. The chef was a mean drunk who yelled a lot but otherwise it was nice.
@joyousjoyness the first one was blueberry picking! We would show up, get buckets, and harvest berries, getting paid by the bucket. I was not very good at it lol, I loved to eat as many berries as I picked! Between that and a blueberry sorting job as a kid, I can't stand them now whoops XD
@joyousjoyness also please wash your berries especially, one of the reasons I can't stand them now is that the ones that go in the pint buckets are not sanitary at all. They only washed the stuff going directly to the Jiffy plant, not the stuff that goes to the supermarket D:
@Alairthephoenix hahah! Makes sense!
