A side project I've been working on: A map of bike and pedestrian collisions in Lexington, KY in 2025: https://projects.blakeshall.com/bike-ped/index.html

Still needs some polish, but it's mostly done. I'm not a designer by any means. Once I have the design pinned down I plan on expanding it to cover more years.

Lexington Bike/Ped Collisions 2025

An interactive map of all reported 2025 bike and pedestrian collisions in Lexington, KY

@blakeshall Very cool. How did you get the data? I see the source on the About tab, but I don't see a way to download the data for a county.

The closest I've gotten is http://crashinformationky.org/LocationSearch which shows a table of results, but no download, and results are hidden if the set is too large.

@fpsvogel You've got to use their Analyze Collision Data section, then in the results you can download as a CSV or just snag the json from the request. It's a pain because it's a clunky search and will sometimes limit how much it returns in one request. But I essentially use County == Fayette, Date in between Jan 1 25...Dec 31 25, and DirAnalysisCode in list of the 2 bike and 2 pedestrian codes.
@fpsvogel Like this. No idea why 180 was fine this time. The last time I did something like this was for 2023 and I had to break it into multiple queries and stitch the csvs together.
@blakeshall Thanks, I'd missed that somehow.
@blakeshall This was well received at the Strong Towns Lexington meeting last night.
@Streetsweeper Any immediate feedback? Someone suggested a 'hide' button for the filters on mobile which I'm working on.
@blakeshall we should probably hang out and talk traffic data
