My kind of 'laid back' is playing a #correspondence #chess game that's been going on for 3 weeks now. Something so novel and cheering about that. I may be about to lose though.

@MattMoose I played correspondence chess once, and it was a very interesting experience. When I had all the time in the world, I started to think not only about tactics, but also about strategy. "Would this move improve my bishop's position?" "Do I have more power on the white squares?" When I play rapid, I get tunnel vision, and the game feels so different.

Thanks for your observations! Yes, timed vs untimed is fascinating. Had a good blitz rating once, and correspondence mode is very new to me although I heard about it decades ago. I think I need to deliberately play loads of random live games now and get beaten to a pulp humiliatingly, then just accept that I'm that kind of level. Still got to overcome reacting negatively to losing. [Rage quitting is bad for your score]
