today i was testing new desoldering contraption (smaller, blue one on the picture). older chonker works quite well, but i was curious if smaller one can match it. in short, no, it can't. it doesn't provide constant suction, heats up slow, there is no temp control or indicator, and it's just too weak if pcb has plenty of copper and dissipates heat fast. in some cases might be alright i guess. #diy #electronics.
