i was experimenting for some time now, with different methods of soldering surface-mount components on pcbs (with emphasis on solder or solder paste application). this framework i've bought via aliexpress is a very good compromise between big, "pro" frameworks and things you can do without a stencil, like presoldering. it's sturdy, small; makes dialing non-framework stencils fairly easy. #diy #electronics

today i was testing new desoldering contraption (smaller, blue one on the picture). older chonker works quite well, but i was curious if smaller one can match it. in short, no, it can't. it doesn't provide constant suction, heats up slow, there is no temp control or indicator, and it's just too weak if pcb has plenty of copper and dissipates heat fast. in some cases might be alright i guess. #diy #electronics.
