I'm reaching the limits of what I can do by armchair mapping to add new streets and paths in #MadisonWI to #OpenStreetMap
We really need warmer weather so that I can go out by bike, survey, and record street level imagery for #Mapillary and #Panoramax
I also look forward to Dane County getting updated aerial imagery online -- they seem to do this in 2-year intervals and so 2026 in theory should be the year.

Was it cold? Yes. But it was still good to get out on the bike and survey ~2 miles of new bike infrastructure and some new streets. https://www.mapillary.com/app/user/vgxhc?lat=43.0345996&lng=-89.5628333&z=17&pKey=1841975279838899&x=0.7125502376318797&y=0.6051937694028308&zoom=0&focus=photo

Mapillary

Street-level imagery, powered by collaboration and computer vision.

@haraldkliems Wait, you mean I shouldn't have changed all the footpaths in my area to "surface=snow"? 😆
@haraldkliems Is there a good primer to contributing to OpenStreetMap by bike?

@rasterweb Not so much about _by_ bike but for contributing _to_ bike infrastructure, you could check out the recording of this recent webinar https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qjde2SFgDUI

For a short talk on street level imagery, I gave a talk just recently https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-_8kceZzy0

Aside from that, take a look at the mobile apps like @streetcomplete or @everydoor to make additions while you're out and about (but not while actively riding, please)
