OK, folks, think of recent games. Do any of them take place in a largely free-roam city?

We had a bunch a decade ago, like Watch Dogs 2, Sleeping Dogs, Asscreed N+1 - but it seems like cities have gone out of vogue recently.

Any reasonably recent, preferably-indie game that involves walking around a city largely freely?

I'm not looking for a taxi driving game or an adventure game that happens to have a city for a backdrop. I want to roam on foot.

The only recent one I can think of is that Pokemon game, and their city is hilarious trash. If you haven't read up on how they implemented it, you should, it's hilarious.

OH. I just remembered this game exists.

It's... it's still getting updates?!

Listen, if you like the same kind of indie nonsense I like, you MUST play this game. I can't believe the dev is still updating it, that's bonnnkers.

Alas, a boat is not a city, so it does not count.

I "love" how Steam is like "we don't know shit about this game. Here's 'games like it', AKA 'popular games because fuck you'."
@Craigp shadows of doubt? 👀

@profan I don't disagree, but it's such a strangely antiseptic city.

There's nothing happening in it aside from the ONE CRIME you're investigating. So all there is to do when you wander is steal shit from the most boring people imaginable.

Does Mindseye count as free roam?
@StoneGreninja I don't think I've heard of that one, except maybe in passing about how it was terrible? Does it count?
They added free roam in an after launch update, so if you bought it when it was new it didnt count
@Craigp Vuntra City seems really interesting, especially the technological side. I still don't understand what the gameplay will be though.
@lauseta I can't play it yet, so it doesn't count yet, but I am keeping my eye on it!
