@britt wow those are just clearly wildly unconstitutional fantasies, plain evil, or both.
@dragonfrog @britt well, there is somehow one thing I agree with in there: abolishing the senate. It does some good work and recent reforms to appointment have made it less gross, but we are one conservative majority away from it becoming an undemocratic patronage machine again.
@megmac @britt That's a good point - I'm not sure if I support that move or not, but it's definitely a "reasonable and humane people may differ" type question.
@dragonfrog @britt in the end they don't really want to abolish it anyways, or Harper would have pushed for it at the height of his power. But I think the Senate is a real and valid frustration point for the western provinces (because it really is basically structured to give the original provinces a veto in confederation) that they like to lean on when they feel their grip on power slipping.
