As per my post this morning I managed to get a newer amd am4 cpu to repurpose a old motherboard I had in order to build a (flash) database server with ecc memory. I don't have the funds to buy the ssds yet cause the prices are terrible right now but once I can this should hopefully significantly improve the database performance for the matrix server that is currently living on a array of hdds

@dalite ECC on AM4 is a solid move for a database server. The Ryzen 5000 series (especially the 5600G) supports unbuffered ECC on most B550 boards, though ASUS tends to be more reliable for ECC than Gigabyte in that generation.

For flash-heavy database workloads, even a consumer NVMe with a DRAM cache outperforms most SATA SSDs significantly. ZFS with ECC + NVMe SLOG is a strong combo if you end up going that route.
