I'm still sad that I apparently damaged my old Asus Pro WS X570-ACE motherboard when removing the CPU (due to failed cooler). There aren't any good AM4 motherboards now. The gamer ones don't support ECC UDIMMs, and the cheap ones that do support ECC have poor PCIe configurations. I need 3 x8 PCIe slots.
I ended up with a Gigabyte X570 Aorus Elite. It supports ECC, and has 3 x16 slots, but the actual lanes to the x17 slots are x16, x4, and x1.

EUROCRYPT 2026 just confirmed both.

Chevignard, Fouque & Schrottenloher halved ECDLP qubit counts:

P-256: 2,124 → 1,193 (42% less than RSA-3072!)

P-224: 1,098 (21.5% less than RSA-2048)
