"Trip planning vs trip improvising?"

Bit of a long blog post today.

It's a bit long but I wanted to ask you:  Are you a trip planner or a trip improviser?

@ricard It's not a trip if I know exactly where I'll be at any given time. I wake up, I get breakfast and only then I ask myself: What do I want to do / see today?
Once I got really sick while in Tokyo and had to stay in my room for 3 days straight. Luckily, a typhoon warning was issued and 'going outside' was not an option anyway. No plan could account for dynamic, unpredictable events.

@tron Totally. Also, plans can be moved, updated, or removed on the fly. In my case, I want to arrive with that exercise of "looking for things to do" already done.

It is true that sometimes you simply improve because you need to (bad weather, not feeling 100%).
