@CatherineBabault Hey down here they’re tiger lilies. For your US followers. πŸ˜€
@GPJohnston Oh, no! not another species with multiple names. πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ 😁
@CatherineBabault The common name for it down here, the first people here harvested and ate the bulb. One of my favorite native wildflowers.
@CatherineBabault
Just wait til you get into scientific names... which change all too often 😭
@GPJohnston
@carolannie @CatherineBabault I hope they leave that one alone, it has a nice ring to it.
@carolannie I can't keep up. It already takes me time to accurately identify some species (fauna and flora) from reliable sources. Although, in some case, I support a name change like for the long-tailed duck, its previous name being racist.
@GPJohnston
@CatherineBabault we used to call these tiger lilies when I was a kid
@KarinLegg6 It is also known as Columbia tiger lily. I have been called many different names too. πŸ˜†
@CatherineBabault I just thought we were wrong, as I have been on many other ids of flora and fauna from my youth.
@KarinLegg6 All three names are correct. I always add the Latin name because a species can be called differently depending on a region in the world. I have seen that with ducks too. And I am here to learn. :)
