Can anyone recommend a reliable #FOSS alternative to Zoom or Google meet? I really have no idea what's out there but thought folks here would know the place to start.

Good old #XMPP in my opinion seems to have a bit of everything, especially for small groups: Messenger/Chat, Audio/Video calls, depending on the client, e. g. Conversations (Android), Dino (Linux) and many others. Not really as complicated as rumours suggest 😄

If its only that (it never is) then jitsi. If you need a collaboration suite (everyone does at some point) use nextcloud talk. Good luck.
