Live in Gloucestershire, UK. Keen supporter of #opensource starting with self taught #linux using #Mandrake distro in about 2000. Now use a vps for own interests in #familyhistory (#webtrees) and photography (#piwigo, also trialling #immich. Using #digikam and #darktable as well). My home machine runs #Fedora

Sitting having lunch and minding my own business when this bird wandered up and started staring at me through the garden window. I have never seen one before and he/she seemed just as inquisitive as me!

It looked a little lost and must have strayed from its usual habitat. Seems it is a #red-legged #partridge. Apparently it was introduced to the UK as a game #bird c.1700. It wandered off and flew away after about 5 minutes obviously now with more knowledge about human behaviour.

I blogged about the fediverse. A short (hopefully non-technical) overview to send to my non-fedi friends and colleagues:

#Hereford #Cathedral viewed from across the #River #Wye. A view most likely photographed thousands of times but the #autumn colours bring out something special as the river slowly winds its way on a dull day.

If your crazy beagle is going to wake you up early, it’s best that he does it in time to catch the end of a good sunrise.

When I go to a zoo, I want to see at least three different kinds of bears. That's my bear minimum.

Are you joining me for a paddle? #Dunster #Beach on Bank Holiday Monday. It's a long walk to the #sea when the #tide is out. These two car transporter ships, one anchored, use the Bristol Channel to visit Royal Portbury Docks. Wales is just visible the other side of the Channel.

Needed a long lens to capture the moment. Despite appearances, the beach area where I was sitting is very sandy.
