Eastern border regions are not only national borders.

They are European borders.

Today, we proposed a strategy to support the EU regions bordering Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine.

Since Russia launched its war of aggression against Ukraine, they have been under growing economic and security pressure.

The strategy helps keep people safe, supports local economies, improves roads, energy and internet connections, and backs communities across these regions.

@EUCommission Eastern European borders in some place on the picture you drew extent 1316 km more to the east. And it was also illegally broken through 12 years ago.
@EUCommission Again, EU does not equate to Europe!

@Tuuktuuk @EUCommission The EU is a neo-liberal, imperialist project, Europe is a continent.

They (EU commission etc) use language to try to "other" European peoples who do not take part in EU project.

@ecadre @EUCommission

Ah, so they were trying to other Ukraine here. Is the border between Belgium and Netherlands not an European border?

(Though, yeah, "EU border" would have been a better phrase)

EU is doing a lit of shitty things, but without it we'd have already been in an Europe-wide war decades ago. It's also protecting us from even worse imperialists such as the Russia, the only old colonial empire to still retain 100% of its colonies.

@ecadre Sorry, but the UK voted itself out of EU not many years ago, so we are not really interested in your opinion about the EU.
@samantha42 I'd watch out, you're playing at the top of a very slippery slope there.
@samantha42 Most of the people in the UK are very decent.
This one is an apparent tankie, though.
"communist party", haha.
@ecadre the EU is none of those things. It is the biggest and most successful peace and prosperity project in the history of the world and the UK left because of Russian information manipulation.
@ecadre @EUCommission strongly agree. Using clear and correct identifiers helps a lot in communications.
@EUCommission - Ukraine part of that 'Eastern border' only because the EU (plus UN and NATO) failed to support the country 4 years ago - longer if you consider Crimea - and continues to do so. And 'accidental' incursions into the EU by Russia / Belarus has equally been met with finding an excuse to do nothing.

@EUCommission Yes!!! Let's keep getting armed up, and escalating the threat of war and the death of millions....after all, look at the bonuses this will bring:

'The strategy helps keep people safe, supports local economies, improves roads, energy and internet connections, and backs communities across these regions.'

Really.? You can't do it now....Fuck off and rattle your sabres somewhere else.

@Oyu_Fka Please take this russian propaganda and sit on it tightly.
@Oyu_Fka lol escalating what exactly? What has the EU done that's escalated the war? Do you know what escalation means?
@EugenioLiberoBocca Yes I do 🙂! Do you know what being a prick means? You do? Then fuck off prick xxx
@Oyu_Fka doesn't answer my question and insults me instead. Your behaviour speaks for yourself.

@EugenioLiberoBocca Your question was 'do I know what escalation means?'....I answered 'yes', and *then* I insulted you, lol! Maybe you struggle with your english?

Tbh, your rudeness in your initial comment showed me I don't need to interact with a tankie fascist. Just because we don't agree, do you think you can change my mind by insulting me? Come the revolution....prick 🙂.

@Oyu_Fka i'm not a tankie and most definitely not a fascist. One thing is disagreement based on the same set of facts, another is spreading blatant disinformation. The EU hasn't escalated the war in any way or form.
My goal wasn't insulting you and I'm sorry if you felt offended.

@EugenioLiberoBocca I think we are talking at crossed purposes - you talk about the 'war', so I'm guessing you refer to Ukraine?

I wasn't....I was talking about the trump-based paranoia in the EU that the russians are coming.

I wholeheartedly support Ukraine in their struggle - but imho it would be far better that the EU spent their money on help for Ukraine, and not building up their own armaments.

That's what I mean by escalation.

Lastly, my apologies for my rudeness. Sorry.

@Oyu_Fka alright my bad for misunderstanding, apologies. Yet, I don't think the two things can be seen separately. Europe is at a crossroads: either we develop our own capabilities (including, eventually, credible nuclear deterrence), or we become vassals of others who do.
As Canadian PM put it: those who are not at the table, will be on the menu.

@EugenioLiberoBocca Europe *is* at a crossroads....thanks to all previous USA administrations, as well as this one.

America used Europe in their proxy war with russia ever since the Berlin Wall came down.

Europe didn't line russia's border with NATO armaments. No, various USA administrations with their overall control of NATO did.

As usual, trump sees money to be made, so he walks away....but they're happy to sell us the arms to 'defend ourselves'.

Reform NATO minus the USA.

@EUCommission

Too bad you didn’t see that before Ukraine was invaded - if everyone had supported them as we should have, Europe wouldn’t be so threatened now.

Ask Hillary about it.

@EUCommission Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria

All this country's together are not met EU QMV requirements.... BTW.

Very important "border"...
