https://www.eticket-deutschland.de/motics
this was new to me: apparently the ticket control devices which are used in german regional trains and public transit can now handle a "#drm" system called "motics".
after a rough overview it appears to me as though it does not add any additional cryptographic security but only new complexity implementation wise as it registers devices on their servers.

#BahnBubble

what it will do though is make the same practice as db schnüffelnavigator already does possible: only allowing a ticket on one device only.
what it cant do is prevent people using a "forged #deutschlandticket "... with a cryptographically signed ticket this is only possible if you somehow lose your private key...
...
and one thing is impossible then. tickets with an aztec code on paper. which is certainly as secure if they do it correctly

@nokoe

Remember how vaccine certificates were handled in the general public and from that extrapolate to the understanding on how digital tickets work🙄

It's again Hanlon's razor.
