mrandom: a long time ago i made a thread on twitter explaining why nolan's pathological self imposed limitations makes him incapable of making films that explore stories outside his narrow scope of reality and white privilege, how it leads him to exclude large swaths of ppl, themes, etc. which plays out constantly (the latest being oppenheimer). but now, he's oddly dropping the ball even withe the latest white centered/dominated film he's making (the odessey).

mrandom: hiring nolan to film the odyssey is like hiring nolan to film the wizard of oz. all dull grayscale, desaturated modern cityscapes, business casual costuming, and none of the iconic songs, just annoying inception bwaaaas. that artless philistine would trade the yellow brick road for a white line on dark tarmac. no emerald city. maybe red shoes if he's being ironic. fantasy is lost on him.

might still get the blu-ray, doh🤷

mrandom: from a company who refuses to pay fair wages, led by studio exects who fire highly skilled and competent writer directors, comes a movie from a beloved franchise that is struggling now for lack of james gunn's involvement: "Avengers: Cross Your Fingers, Gang!" as per usual, i'll wait for the rottentomatoes score but tbh, i'm more excited for man of tomorrow, and any future avatar.

out running errands. weather's not too bad. windy.

mrandom: nice day for a walk. need a drink for my binge watching snacks. hate that my favorite bread has been discontinued. was a fattening, artery clogger so it's probably for the best. end of year stuff.

mrandom: crowded af store. lucky, i only wanted one thing, my drink. i'll be through checkout in no time.

on my way home. feel too good to be inside a vehicle. i'll walk home. i need the exercise.

mrandom: listening to "walk on by" as i walk out the door. whether it's heavy handed metaphor or nice bit of synchronicity is for others to decide.

i'm as appalled to hear about potus attacking venezuela with impunity, toppling and kidnapping maduro without cause as any sane person, but all democrats seem to do is describe the crime and vent their outrage. which is all they ever do.

mrandom: i'll go back to listening to democrats' fiery condemnations of 🍊💩's criminal behavior once dems figure out how to stop that madman, instead of being totally fn useless. till then…🙅

mrandom: i remember when these things were so much more severe, not that i want those days to return.

mrandom: sunday morning gave me no warning of all this mfn snow on the ground when i need to go outside. so might just stay in.

mrandom: ruby tuesday is more like pallid tuesday. cold, but not windy, tg.

last night must've been freezing cold. i saw a dead cat on the sidewalk today. poor thing succumbed to the elements.

got a new pair of thermal gloves and now i want to go outside in the cold all the time. 🧤

mrandom: i always used to see a lot of burned out, abandoned, derelict cars sitting on the oitskirts of manhattan.

mrandom: i always used to see them on my trips into the city, and i always used to wonder what the story was with all those dead, abandoned cars.

mrandom: first of all why so many of them? i can see one or two, three tops. but these derelicts were all over the place. it was like an mass die of for cars, or an elephant graveyard for automobiles.

mrandom: only difference is elephant graveyards are in one place and the abandoned cars were in different spots around the outside of the city.

mrandom: why did so many people give up all those cars? and what kind of people were they that could just suddenly decide to burn their cars and walk away from them?

mrandom: eventually, the city quietly cleaned up the derelicts so i never got answers to any of my questions.
