Hello World.

I'm working through my digital photos, uploading them to my #Immich server and I'm rapidly reaching the point where I'll have to address what to do with my boxes of 35mm slides.

Is there a "best" way to do this?

Do I need to buy a slide scanner and if so is there a reasonably priced one that you would recommend?

@Guy There is no "one size fits all" here. I have been scanning 5000+ slides for some 15 years on my reliable #Epson V700 with still more to do. The number has increased over time by adding slides from my late father and my wife's late father and grandfather. Start by considering:

Who wants to see them and why?
How many have you got? Do you need to scan every single one?
How much time are you wiling to spend?
What resolution do you desire?
Do you want to scan old prints as well?

Good luck!

@Guy My flatbed scanner is a very competent slide scanner - an Epson. Very adequate resolution and decent colour capture.

@Guy

I found a nice second-hand Nikon scanner on eBay, that fitted into a vacant drive slot, when I scanned my slides. When I finished, I sold it for about the same amount.

@Guy
You're confusing whole generations with that question. 😆
