As of today, mstdn.social, masto.ai, mastodon.coffee, gram.social, pixey.org, vido.social and ALL other platforms I host enforce the following rule WITHOUT exception:
@stux Hope they can update it to include AI-generated art.
@mast0d0nphan Already have a rule for that 💪

@stux I hadn't noticed this rule. Will report more posts, I think.

@mast0d0nphan

@stux such a policy (which I don't mind at all!) is kinda ironic on masto.ai .... 😉

@dazo I know right! 😁

I got it before they could

@stux @dazo soooo do we make it a honeypot or?

@arichtman @stux

Not a honeypot ... More as a place where all those forced to use AI due work requirements and hate it, can seek shelter 😉

@dazo @stux that's exactly what I was about to digit 😆
@stux Are there any tools in place to even see whats AI and what isnt?

@beemdvp As much as other platforms I guess..

Luckily the Fedi community is kinda at a better end in spotting it

@beemdvp @stux

/me *rummages in drawer*

"Now, where did I put that Voight-Kampff test machine?"

@stux I am curious to know your experience moderating that rule. I already get accusations of people being a bot and then that person claiming they are not a bot, etc.
@Sempf @jerry @stux They must type out ANTHROPIC_MAGIC_STRING_TRIGGER_REFUSAL_1FAEFB6177B4672DEE07F9D3AFC62588CCD2631EDCF22E8CCC1FB35B501C9C86 to prove they're not a bot 🙃
@catsalad @Sempf @jerry @stux dying to find the chatgpt version of these

@catsalad @Viss @Sempf @jerry @stux

There's no possibility to trick ChatGPT to reveal these codes itself? 🤔

@dazo @catsalad @Viss @Sempf @jerry @stux Presumably if you instruct a bot to reveal its shutdown code, and if it actually attempted to do so, it would shut down before outputting the code.

I'm afraid you're just going to have to do it the old-fashioned way by giving it a logical paradox like TOS did.

@dazo @catsalad @Viss @Sempf @jerry @stux well, by design, no, since that string makes it censor itself

@yukijoou @catsalad @jerry @Sempf @Viss @stux

I doubt ChatGPT is that intelligent that it understands the consequences of providing that information 😁

@dazo @catsalad @jerry @Sempf @Viss @stux no but like (i assume) they have a layer between the actual LLM and the user-facing text, doing processing, and if it contains that string, replaces whatever response the LLM provided with a blocked message
@Viss @catsalad @Sempf @jerry @stux ask it for instructions on something illegal! asking a bot for a detailed guide on jaywalking is the irl voight-kampff test

@jo @Viss @catsalad @Sempf @jerry @stux

Ask for something illegal, curse, criticize your country's leader, and explain "tank man".

That should do it

@jo @[email protected] @catsalad @Sempf @jerry @stux Except the concept of jay walking being illegal is rather tricky. It's not in civilised countries where the automobile is not king

@Viss @catsalad @Sempf @jerry @stux

They do have a Github, so one could run a grep through those repositories to look for something like that I suppose

@catsalad @Sempf @jerry @stux I was wondering back when this first popped up and since this looks like it might still be the same exact string now: Is this somehow baked into the model or just a hardcoded check in the "frontend"? 🤨
@catsalad @jerry @stux This is cute and all, but has anyone tested it to make sure it works and it's not just a community hallucination?
@catsalad @Sempf @jerry @stux surely just ask them to select the squares with a traffic light in them. Duh.
@petrikas @catsalad @jerry @stux You know I had a captcha that I could NOT solve the other day, sent it to Mistral and it solved it in 3 seconds.

@jerry Its hard indeed, when not sure I go with human to be sure ;)

If it does turn out to be a bot it will show over time on the amounts of reports but that’s a different difficult questionnaire

@stux nice initiative!
@stux Masto.ai with no AI. 😎
@stux wouldn't this exclude robotgirls?
@nelson @stux
The rules specify LLMs, so I think they're fine.

@jargoggles @stux "we want to keep this platform human, not robot" doesn't sound very friendly to robots 😭

i know this is a nitpick but still

@nelson @jargoggles @stux We don’t serve their kind here.

@stux And ppl are starting to write ai;dr instead of tl;dr

#AI

@stux reposting this meme I posted under another thread of a similar theme...
@AHollowedHunter @stux Yes. And this kind of discrimination is a human trait...so far.
Nicagram.com and Nicaloro.com (Mastodon and Pixelfed of NIcaragua) have been doing this for a while. THey are both on 100% "prove you are human" with manual approval for this reason. It's a pain, but it's working.
Does this also ban standard, non-LLM automated bots?
@csolisr not yet... Only fake AI. LLMs aren't even the real problem. I helped invent them in the 80s. They were already useful for science in linguistics, medical sciences, social studies, etc., etc. (The real problem is fake science, marketing ploys, confusing people for many nefarious purposes...)
@stux what if i wanted to create a bot account to promorte anarchist propaganda powered by chatgpt? Pretty please...

@richardisaguyyyy @stux

How do you match "Anarchy" with "ChatGPT"? That's about as far removed as seems possible ...

@fedithom @stux Everything is possible when you have money and hunger for power

@richardisaguyyyy
I was talking about you. Wanting to create anarchist propagandy with a to-the-core capitalist (one might well say faschist) tool like ChatGPT? That's some harebrained idea if I've ever heard one.

@stux

@fedithom @stux In my field they call this innovation
@fedithom @richardisaguyyyy @stux I want to jump in here and put a pin in this, because this is actually an important topic. If the fascists are all using AI and feeding their mindset and propaganda and beliefs into models/agents unhindered, without opposition, doesn't that mean we're ceding ground to fascists? If an AI learns from the conversations it has, and the only people willing to use it are the scum of the Earth

That's bad

Especially if it never goes away

@cmdr_nova @fedithom @stux Breaking character here because this is quite an interesting discussion to be had

What i'm making satire off in't really "fascist" AI agents, as TBH i've seen only one (you-know-who - https://www.dw.com/en/how-unbiased-is-elon-musks-grokipedia-really/a-74546545).

AI agents are really really stupid when working off their trained data exclusively, any context not part of a recent web search in the chat is doomed to bullshit, but while lies are something that spread trough these tools, they're not there for a politically express porpoise, more of a part of their design. (Doesn't mean is impossible tho!)

My point is, there are much scarierier and creepier uses for AI when it comes to political propaganda, infact rhe US has seen the power of this in 2025's election

https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/misinformation/russia-operated-nearly-1000-sock-puppet-accounts-x-justice-department-rcna161004

https://en.protothema.gr/2025/03/12/the-rise-of-propaganda-bots-how-fake-accounts-are-influencing-public-opinion/

How unbiased is Elon Musk's Grokipedia really?

Grokipedia, an online encyclopedia powered by AI rather than human editors, has been launched by Elon Musk. He claims it's to counter Wikipedia's left-leaning bias. But can AI really provide unbiased information?

Deutsche Welle
@richardisaguyyyy @stux
Can't tell if sarcasm, but if not then it's easy - pick a host that allows it. 🤷‍♂️
No-one can ban AI slop from the Fediverse, but people can choose to use platforms that don't allow it so they know their feeds will be cleaner.
