I CANNOT BELIEVE I HAVE TO SAY THIS:

the purpose of a voter identification card is not only to suppress the vote, but to TRACK the vote.

voter id laws in the United States have ALWAYS come down to fascists wanting to know who is voting AND FOR WHOM, so they can suppress those votes.

the SAVE Act is not only a voter suppression law, but it’s #MAGA #fascists wanting to codify that Americans do not have a right to a secret vote ―which is a HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATION

THERE ARE NUMEROUS VOTING REQUIREMENTS IN #USA

1. THERE IS NOT A FEDERAL ELECTIONS AGENCY
each state manages elections based on constitutional statutes and voting rights laws

2. it means every eligible voter needs to prove two things:

2a. USA CITIZENSHIP - to vote in federal elections
2b. STATE RESIDENCY - to vote in statewide & local elections

🧵…

3.Each state has

3a. mandatory minimum of time to be considered a resident
3b. minimum requirements to prove who you are
3c. proof of voter registration certification
3c1. the proof of voter registration certification can look like anything:

in New York we get a little plastic dot that can be brought to the polling site. when they scan it, your info pops up. once you sign it, you’re good to get your paper ballot and vote.

THE PAPER BALLOT IS NOT TIED TO YOUR VOTER REGISTRATION

🧵…

NEW YORK’S PAPER BALLOTS ARE NOT TIED TO YOUR VOTER REGISTRATION

because it would be against our constution and a violation of human rights.

i was one of the people who campaigned all across the state, educating politicians about the different technologies involved with voting machines.

the system we have in New York keeps voting separate from voter identification:

THIS IS POTENTIALLY NOT THE CASE WITH PAPERLESS VOTING

this is one reason to reject VOTER TRACKING… 🧵

@blogdiva In the UK paper ballots *are* identifiable. But only for a short period of time with a court order, which essentially never happens.

(The scenario is that you turn up to vote, and get told that you can't vote because you've already voted. If your one vote would have made a difference to the result the stolen ballot can, in theory, be retrieved and examined.)
