A curious question - is there some current analysis about the relation of small non-profits/individual people running opensource services for public (ie. Mastodon, cryptpad etc.) and current EU legislation (like DSA, CRA, NIS2 ... ?).

@kayla I don't know 😜.

I'm an American and I have observed that maybe Europeans assume non-profits are inherently good what with the the way we talk about e.g. #Mastodon governance.

Here e.g. churches and Nazi political groups are non-profits and do enormous damage, "non-profit" is more of a org detail.

I will will learn with you, thanks.

@CartyBoston Well, of course not all non-profits in EU are "good" - I can name at least five who are actively and loudly against a lot of fundamental human rights just in my little country in central Europe, but the question is really just about if the current legislation imposes some new additional burdens with regards to publicly accessible digital services. Because I have a feeling it does, and I'd like to know in what way.
