@cmdr_nova FYI, they did publish an announcement on the official @Mastodon account a while back. Their reasoning is that because these instances are so large, they're harder to moderate, and they don't want anyone stumbling across anything nasty before the moderators get to it.

@cmdr ░ nova ⸸ :~$ @Furbland's Very Cool Mastodon™ Building a tool against the Mastodon client API is pretty normal.

Building it straight against Mastodon and features exclusive to it while circumventing any and all APIs is something else.

But hard-coding a tool against one specific Mastodon server is something that nobody expects ever to happen.
