Contrariwise: The improvement of education is the improvement of a nation.

Which is why I'll never understand *any* government that doesn't prioritise enabling free, or at least extremely affordable, education for whoever wants it.

I understand it. I just detest it.

Governments seem only to look at **how educated the existing corporations need the local workforce to be**. They are looking at most for a single fiscal year.

They do not realize any personal benefit for looking into the future. So they do not.

It is despicable.

As are the execs of those corporations, also sucked into the short-term returns. They do not care that it dooms the corporation, too. They are not going to be there.

What's the fastest way to turn someone else's life hours into jetfuel and island party tickets?

I do not know.

Definitely not the public education system, whose primary purpose for billionaires is to provide day care to increase worker pool.

@PeterLG 👍 🤷‍♀️

@VeroniqueB99 Vee, while I understand what your post is saying completely, I don't believe it is correct. At birth the human is the most moral that it will ever be. It has no bigotry, no religion. Parents are supposed to teach morality because a human is not a moral animal by nature.

Schools teach subjects, math, history, reading, law ... take Harvard Law. They do such an excellent job at teaching Law. Both Obama's, Roberts, Kagan, Schiff, Raskin, Klain and also Garland, Cruz, Chesboro. The last 3 had the same lessons, the same professor, the same classrooms but were either sick on the days when ethics were taught or ethics comes from a different place and time!

What I am trying to say is that a decay in the morality and integrity of a person (nation), is not because of a failing of it's schools so much as the nature of the beast!

I leave you a meme that I posted earlier, that fits so perfect here ...

@Waldorf

It does indeed! 🤣

At the entrance gate of a university in South Africa, the following message was posted for contemplation

"Destroying any nation does not require the use of atomic bombs or the use of long range missiles... It only requires lowering the quality of education and allowing cheating in the examinations by the students..."

Patients die at the hands of such doctors...
Buildings collapse at the hands of such engineers...
Money is lost at the hands of such economists & accountants...
Humanity dies at the hands of such religious scholars...
Justice is lost at the hands of such judges...

"The collapse of education is the collapse of the nation."

@VeroniqueB99 The West has always suffered from anti-intellectualism and at present it is running rampant

@Robo105 YES 👍

Isn't that so effing weird though?...

@VeroniqueB99 Yes very weird but it has a long history.
