my mission right now. to somehow read an iunaccessible PDF file. I used to have kurzwiel a very long time ago, but I don't anymore, so lets see what I can do to read this. *starts the mission impossible theme song*.
@JamminJerry shove it through paperback?
@munchkinbear I didn't think to try thatk,l but I don't know if paperback would do an OCR on it, as that is what was needed.
@JamminJerry I don't know either.
@munchkinbear well holy shit! it actually opened it just fine! I don't know if it did OCR on it, but it is readable in paperback. hey @shefoof that application could have been opened in paperback.
@JamminJerry @shefoof it's literally the first thing I try, if something like a browser isn't rendering a pdf properly, download, chuck into paperback. I literally use adobe as a *last* resort and only if it's a form that needs to be filled out, that is if, the pdf was a fillable pdf form anyhow. Actually now that I think about it, I think @mcourcel may have mentioned some free thing called fox pdf or something that actually might work in fillable PDF forms so you wouldn't need adobe.
@munchkinbear @shefoof @mcourcel this is an application that does need filled out, however, I think they are willing to make an accomidation for her, but she needed to be able to read the damned thing. smile. I ran it threw Vision Assistant Pro; and that worked.
@JamminJerry @shefoof @mcourcel I'd have stuffed it in adobe and seen if it was a fillable PDF< because chrome, etc. won't eat forms like that, sadly. Even if they are fillable.
@munchkinbear @shefoof @mcourcel Foxit Reader Portable lets me read it, but I don't see how you can fill it in. maybe you don't? maybe you are suppose to print it out, and then fill it out that way? I don't know.
@JamminJerry @shefoof @mcourcel possibly. but someone else said phoxit can't fill forms. so shove it in adobe.
@munchkinbear @shefoof @mcourcel I thought marton said you can use it to fill out pdf forms?
@JamminJerry @munchkinbear @shefoof @mcourcel he did, I understood that was what got away from Adobe. Foxit has been able to read them for a while accessibly.
@techsinger @JamminJerry @shefoof @mcourcel well if he provides a linky I can pull it and find a PDF form to test.
@munchkinbear @JamminJerry @shefoof @mcourcel Sadly, PB doesn't do OCR, but it will handle things which don't require it, and usually handle them very well. I've heard good things about Foxit reader and have to try it.
@munchkinbear @JamminJerry @shefoof @mcourcel Thank you for this information. Where would I get the fox PDF reader?
I’m having to fill out Social Security forms. My Adobe does not see the fillable PDF, only if I wrender through a browser, but there aren’t proper labels for any of the edit boxes.
@janesuh5 @munchkinbear @shefoof @mcourcel I don't know where to get it, as Marton was the one that gave a link to it a while ago, and I downloaded it. smile.
@janesuh5 @munchkinbear @JamminJerry @shefoof @mcourcel Oh man, for something like that I would get help from Aira. Want to be extra sure that stuff is filled out correctly.
@technocounselor @janesuh5 @munchkinbear @JamminJerry @shefoof I leave for a few hours and everything goes crazy. Lol! Here is the link for the portable apps version. I did try it with a fillable PDF and it worked great: https://portableapps.com/downloading/?a=FoxitReaderPortable&s=s&p=&d=pa&n=Foxit%20Reader%20Portable&f=FoxitReaderPortable_2025.3.0.paf.exe
