@rl_dane I despise GroupMe with my whole heart and I can’t wait to uninstall it the moment I graduate (every club at my school uses it for announcements, plus any time someone makes a chat for a class it’s on there 😭)

@roguefoam @rl_dane Back when I used it, it worked better to delete your account and use the SMS bridge than to actually use the app. I can't believe it's still running and in use.

@jp @rl_dane They still have the SMS bridge but it's a nightmare to setup and use - had to do it for a club member of mine that only uses a flip phone and it was annoying and buggy.

@roguefoam @rl_dane Sounds about right for GroupMe though.

The thing that finally caused momentum away from it in my groups was that they left push notifications broken on Android for multiple years. It doesn't really get worse than that for a messenger.

It's horrid, and used a lot at my church.

I'll check it every day or so on my computer, and I have SMS notifications turned on so at least I get a gist of what's going on, but I sure as heck won't install their app, which has both Facebook Analytics and Huawei mobile services (wtheck even)

@roguefoam @rl_dane that's me with instagram and facebook messenger. All the classes use instagram and all the clubs use messenger. My homeroom teacher told us to make facebook accounts so he can send us stuff for class.

I'm literally dying. Haven't they heard of discord or something else?! At least whatsapp

@rl_dane @roguefoam yes. And i'm at a presitigous school in my country. At least they would be better at technology than to use facebook and others. Wrong. The goddamn cybersecurity club is using whatsapp. Cybersecurity! You wpild expect them to use idk signal, or something **secure**

They don't allow the mobile website anymore. Very recent change. :/

At least, I can't get it working on Android with either Firefox or Native Alpha (PWA/SSB-type browser)
