Q1: Hello, let's talk about our own favourite projects.
Share a brief description of your favourite, and what it means to you.
A1: For me right now my favourite is probably no surprise to people: I'm quite obsessed with the journal I'm binding and illustrating as a worked example of gameplay for The Game for Scribes, which is a solo RPG I've written over the last two years.
I'm sure folks expected me to mention PETI, my virtual pet, but uh... I'm not feeling real technical just now.
@patcharcana
A journal is a good favourite. Something that you can keep coming back to.
@MakersHour A1 I'm not sure I have a single favourite really, it is probably more about "what has captured my imagination right now".
Having said that I do still like the various projects that went out on 1st April the past few years and were both serious and jokes at the same time...
@diyelectromusic
Haha, I am never really sure about the April 1st creations. I love them for their creativity but hate that very often I can never tell if they are jokes or not.

I think it has to be Tลท Llygoden, my 1:16 scale dolls house, furnished almost entirely from scratch. I learnt miniature making to do it, including soldering a brass bed, a venneered wardrobe, and dozens of items of furniture.
I have to credit Alfred for the lights really - I made the shades and laid the wires, but under his direction, and he did all the connecting and working out how to power them.
@Stratski
Sometimes it can be very difficult to choose one, even if just to talk about.
There can be so many favourites for different reasons.
@Indigoatcrafts
Oooh!
I can't wait to hear more about #MakerOfTrees, when you're ready.
Oh, that's brilliant! Well done!
Oh no, I'm sorry to hear about the shingles!
Oh, how rotten! I hope it clears up soon.
@Indigoatcrafts @MakersHour
Sorry to hear about the Shingles. That is a horridly painful affliction, what I can remember.
I hope you get better soon.
@drfootleg
And why not! ๐
@drfootleg @MakersHour
Yes, I can't share my favorite project because I haven't started yet. :p
Though of past projects, I will choose Magnemite - though if you ask tomorrow, I might have a different choice
@tschundler Well, just for this evening we'll go witht he Magnemite as your faavourite.
What is it?
@MakersHour
This Magnemite is a Pokemon. It is my favorite Pokemon - it should be larger but I made this smaller one as a prototype.
It's made out of steel and the magnets are aluminum but have small magnets inside them. The "eye" is a round LCD meant for a smartwatch.
It makes for a good compact companion-bot.
@tschundler
Oh, I see. Thank you.
I don't know Pokemon, so completely lost on me.

A1: Hola! Iโm honestly not sure I can pick a favourite! They all have a piece of me in them and I have a piece of all of them in me!
Weak answer! Sorry!
@Andy
That's just the way a favourite works, so not weak at all. It might make the other questions a bit more awkward to answer though. ๐
@wokstation
You made a staff?!!! ๐
@diyelectromusic
I'm not blowing @wokstation's fuse!
A1 I'm not sure if I have a favourite project. That would be like asking a parent which is their favourite child...
I am very pleased with my kerfing plane tho.

And also the marking gauge I made in '24.
@quixoticgeek
I feel the same about favourites, but for this game I chose one. ๐
@LewisWorkshop
Some of the detail in that is quite amazing, especially given how long ago it was.

A1. On the physical side, I would say the Doctor Popular Checkpoint Charlie Hat. This was a pattern on Instructables, reverse-engineered from a souvenir which DocPop (San Francisco creative in yo-yos, digital and physical art and fabric) had brought back from Berlin. I made three copies of it, differently adapted, which gave me more confidence with working in 3D.
Oh the digital side, my revival of Tamsin Bowles' Weatherpixie #PixieReport . A long-running work in progress that has taught me a lot!
@MakersHour My favorite project is my custom keyboard and mouse.
I've been a computer user since age 4, and I've struggled with repetitive strain injuries since high school. I've tried many different types of ergonomic input devices, but eventually I decided I needed to build my own, to suit my own needs.
After modifying the Dactyl keyboard and rewriting it in Python, I finally started on my custom vertical mouse, which I designed from the ground up, influenced by the Zalman FG-1000 FPSgun.
