My getting up has slipped into the afternoons & I'm not happy about it.
Especially as in a few days I'll have to be up before 07:00 to be able to spend the day on an outing with friends. 🫣

Stricter morning routine?
- Alarm goes, switch on radio or preselected podcast instead of noticing the Mastodon notifications so I don't vanish down a 40+ notification hole?
🤔 … 🤔 In theory very easy to do, in practice very difficult to stick to, as my AuDHD screams for comfort from not being ready to face the day.

- Swap chores around with things I enjoy, want to get stuck into?
My big worry is that once I start the thing I want to do I will ignore all cues for stopping & doing the 'must do' tasks.

One possible fix for ignoring cues, is have lunch be the cut off point as I, like a lot of critters can be greatly motivated by food.
Current problem, lunch is around 18:00 give or take an hour & as I'm painfully aware of it being evening my brain & body default to evening mode, time to read or ideally, relax so those 'must do' tasks have pretty much a zero chance of happening.

I guess, I might be spending some time working this one out this afternoon / evening. I don't mind spending my evenings messing with dilemmas like this, as long as I can shove a movie I enjoy on whilst I'm doing it 🙂.
… That's if I remember 😅.

we just need to collectively agree to start a 24 hour society so we can go with our actual circadian rhythms lol. I naturally want to stay up until 4-5am and sleep until like 1pm, which wouldnt be a problem if everything was open all the time and you could work outside of 8am-5pm.

I've never fully believed all humans are naturally day dwellers, because once the sun starts coming up im like 'ok time for bed' lol not everyone follows the same circadian rhythm

Agreed 😀. Also not all humans get all their sleep each day in one go. At least one of my friends gets a few hours sleep from mid / late afternoon into the evening before getting up again for several hours & then gets their nighttime sleep.

@Soldusty @actuallyadhd @autistics

i mean, thats like a polyphasic sleep schedule, right? nikola tesla was said to only sleep in short naps during the day. the only reason more people dont do it is because thats not what we 'should' do. and its not what current society allows for.

im serious about the night society thing. i think its the future. i think science will catch up and realize its not one-size-fits-all

neurodivergence isnt a fluke, its doing what nature does best and diversifying

I think the reality of enforced 'sleep once a day' thing is because of the industrial revolution.
First factories powered by steam would start with loading & lighting the furnaces which would take hours to build up enough heat & then enough steam pressure. Basics stopping & starting twice a day would mean lots more fuel burned for much less production.

Today that excuse doesn't exist, so early starts for 80 - 90 percent of workers makes a lot less sense.

@aka_panda_333 @Soldusty @actuallyadhd @autistics thats very relatable, whenever the sun is out i just feel such sleepiness

@autistics @actuallyadhd @aka_panda_333 @Soldusty @nu

Also entirely relatable, especially as the night is quieter and (obviously) darker so not as overstimulating as daytime... My nocturnal tendencies alongside my light and sound sensitivity are why I joke about being #BatuallyAutistic 🦇

@shinybat @autistics @actuallyadhd @Soldusty @nu YES less stimulation at night means i can actually THINK better lol my partner is always like 'why are you in the dark??' But idk, the light is like noise and when its off my brain is quieter? Also sometimes if im having a hard time focusing on what someone is saying, closing my eyes helps me like, hear them better? Idk lol
