@minds @adinfinitum @nomads ⚠️ Guadalfeo River & Surroundings Safety Tips
The RĂo Guadalfeo has reached critical levels due to massive snowmelt and rain in the high Sierra. The river has fully reclaimed the bed and is extremely dangerous.
Bank Erosion and Cracks
The river is actively eroding the banks. Check your land for new cracks in the soil; these are urgent warning signs that the ground is about to collapse. If you are on a lower terrace, the ground can undercut even if the water has not reached your door yet!!!
The Night Surge
The river often peaks late in the evening or at night when the daytime mountain melt reaches the valley.
Do not be fooled by a calm afternoon!
Safety and Roads
Stay away from river terraces and all low-lying points.
Roads and mountain passes are highly unstable; landslides and rockfalls are occurring now. Avoid driving or walking near cliffs or steep slopes.
Stay Alert
If the water turns thick and dark brown, or if you feel vibrations and hear a deep rolling sound (boulders moving), move to higher ground immediately.
