But it's still 40 minutes until I can clock out, and 30 until the train I want to catch - punctually for a change - leaves Hannover.

Hopefully there will be no one on the tracks tonight; the train will be handed over on time; the doors won't fail; another train won't have to overtake it .. anything I've missed out from the "sorry but" catalogue?

I am having a better evening than the family trying desperately to reschedule a Sixt booking. Two languages, five telephone calls, and now they just hope.

Meanwhile, the next stop is mine, and I'm hoping my connection will work too....

Waiting for my connection. Then it's just a few stops, out into the cold for a brisk walk home, and a warm dinner.

Looks like my fateful journey today, the bad side, was taken over by the other family and their Sixt problems.

I feel for them.

Fate must be, in this case, male. No multitasking.

As we set off on time, and probably with my last toot of the night unless it all goes west....

I have decided that my superpower of the day is being able to suck the chocolate coating off Maltesers.
