One of the last tasks I did before #FOSDEM was setting up a second hand laser printer in the #doghouse workspace. Made effortless by CUPS and Linux. Supernice then to chat to the people at the #openprinting booth including CUPS devs. Awesome work and my machine now has a cool sticker! #opensource https://openprinting.github.io/history/
@concretedog assuming you've seen this? Too bad it's ink and not laser https://www.crowdsupply.com/open-tools/open-printer
Open Printer

Finally, an open hardware printer you can actually understand, repair, and upgrade

@kkremitzki I hadn't seen that! Nice! I don't really do masses of printing... just mail labels mostly and not even many of those. Ace to have open options though!

@kkremitzki @concretedog I have invited the creators of the #OpenPrinter to our booth, but as the license for their published construction plans was a CC license with "non-commercial" restriction, the licens was non-free and so #FOSDEM organizers have not accepted them.

The creators plan to open up their license once their printer is in production, so perhaps next year you will see it on FOSDEM ...

@till @concretedog interesting, I didn't know those details, thanks!
@concretedog Thanks for showing off the destination of your sticker from our booth! Now everybody sees why your printer is working!
