I’m attempting to sample three different drafting styles on spindles for IG #SpingleBingo. So far I’ve done long draw on supported spindle and short backward on Turkish spindle.

Do any of you have a recommendation for a 3rd drafting style to try? Perhaps one that is expected to yield different results than what i have from the two methods already in progress?

@consumablejoy As a variation to long draw you could try spinning from the fold. Works for long staple lengths. I never tried spindle spinning from a distaff, but that would be interesting too.
@lisettedeboer @consumablejoy I used a cuff I cut from a too-tight colourwork sock and gave a second ribbing as a wrist distaff for spindle spinning. It didn’t change my drafting style much but it was fun and quite practical! Just put the cuff on your wrist and shove the floof in there!
@venite @consumablejoy For keeping floof out if the way I’ve used mesh string bags on the wrist. But indeed no change in drafting style. I’ve seen video’s of spinners drafting from a small rod with fiber on it that had a ring on one end to secure it around a finger.
@lisettedeboer @consumablejoy Evie has a video on those! They’re often misfiled in museums apparently:D
