I remember watching a very wizened old tailor in Ho Chi Minh City sew an extra piece of the woven fabric of a suit into the inside jacket pocket.
Invisible mending techniques used to be very, very common in Asia, and you need a generous piece of the same fabric to weave it into place to cover a hole or tear.
I am sure he's passed on now, but that little act lives on in me.
Interesting #Radiolab on #electricity + cattle, a follow up on a #Zetland piece.
I remain a bit sceptical about the idea of stray voltage affecting cows. It seems very implausible and there are surely other factors to consider. But a quick web search gives lots of hits.
It may be a thing and it may also be a case of mass hysteria among farmers (the mobile phone towers and cancer scare also sprang to mind). And it might be a third effect. Or all three?
But I think it's going to be something we hear more of as the #GreenTransition gets going...

Great swathes of rock music since the nineteen-sixties would never have existed, we're sometimes told, were it not for the recordings of Robert Johnson. Certainly the likes of Keith Richards, Eric Clapton, Robert Plant, and Bob Dylan have never hesitated to acknowledge his influence.
