🌸MARUYAMA'S WEEPING BEAUTY🤗
Maruyama-kōen's (円山公園) famous 70-year old shidare-zakura (枝垂桜 'weeping cherry') is one of the city's most recognizable trees. It's a short walk from our Camellia Flower Teahouse.
The original tree was 200 years old when it withered in 1947.

There's a reason why anthropomorphism is the cardinal sin of any discipline relating to animals. Most people default unthinkingly to 'well of course animal suffering is bad when I see it and my meat comes from... different, less sympathetic animals'. Which breaks down in contact with reality.
This has always disturbed me, but I don't really have a solution, except to be a vegan-curious vegetarian with a bloodless email / spreadsheet job that allows me to be sentimental.
