Given that exploding dye capsules have been common for decades, I'm surprised this ain't rampant re: #parcel #thieves...

Seriously, I'm just glad #ParcelTheft isn't rampant in my area, but also people literally setup #ParcelBoxes and almost all neighbours are just #honest...

Best Porch Pirate Instant Karma Moments Yet Dye Packs and Karma(New Compilation!)

@kkarhan To get one thing straight: that ai police officer is wrong. A, there was no stealing. Picking up a package could have a lot more of reasons. B, laying out a booby trap is illegal (assault, I think). Please don't try this at home.

@daarin Obviously I'd not do that, even if I had a problem with parcel theft.

  • And even if I'd put like big-ass warning stickers all over it and not make it a "lesser-lethal #IED".

Instead do it like #MarkRober and even then rather make it a #TrackingPackage that would call the police with muted speaker and an automated message saying "This device has been stolen and is now sending audio from the thief! Please track and locate me..." cuz that would be more efficient at actually catching someone in the act.

  • But then again Mark Rober also didn't do that because that could be deemed "abuse of emergency numbers" so yeah, just tracking to some stash would be the best option.
Car Thief Gets Instant Karma (the FINAL Glitterbomb 6.0)

YouTube

@kkarhan Yes. That one seems legitimate to me.

Just seen enough videos on YouTube of people thinking traps are okay. And as the lawyer then always explains, they are not. In example a trap can not decide if it is a thief picking it up or a first responder.

@daarin yes, or it could be triggered by just someone else delivering stuff.

  • These "Parcel Bombs" don't have any #IFF mechanisms per design and even if I'm shure that having something activate within a dozen meters and/or seconds would be too error prone given that GPS 's CEP under cover by a building is magnitutes greater.

It's just a legal liability, and espechally shooting paint at people will have crossed the line.

  • Cuz for comparison, those colour tags that explode on stolen clothes don't explode like fireworks, but merely crack loudly like someone dropped a wine glass...

@daarin My concern too is that such #ClickBait with #disinformation may actually incentivize someone to do these things and then get sued.

  • That's also propably the reason why #MarkRober neither sells his #GlitterBombs nor incentivizes others to try the same.

But also car break - ins and "fencing" ain't even remotely as common in #Germany than the #USA, (espechally not the SFBA), because here people are way more suspicious and also shit's not that extreme here - yet...
