Hey, I've got two dev roles to fill on the West Coast!

1. Intermediate web application engineer - React/Typescript/Next.js/Python for APIs. 3+ years experience, B.Sc preferred, this role starts Feb 13.

2. Intermediate Data(base) Engineer position coming open for March 1st. This role is focused on financial and royalties data. Note this is not an AI/ML/Data Science position, however you may be building data infrastructure for consumption by a couple of data sci's (and honestly any experience in those roles is a bonus). If you have most of the following:
- 4+ years writing SQL
- Experience with pipelining data around the cloud(s) and general orchestration of data collection
- Some MySQL and/or Postgres experience
- Python
- B.Sc+ education

We're a small-ish music company with big brand power. I won't post the roles publicly for a bit, but if you want the full JD or more info on either role, just DM me.

not sure what is happening with this post, I've posted on the fedihired hashtags before and never had near this many boosts 😵‍💫 thanks everyone!

I'll add some context to help answer some questions:
- yes, the roles are fully remote
- unfortunately we are not looking outside the pacific northwest region of North America at the moment
- the "official" job descriptions are not posted through our ATS yet, they should show up next week and I will send links via DM
- I ignore reply-guy stuff
- Canadians would be contractors, at least for now
- We are a profitable, well-established company

@womp Looking for any coop students? My son is in second year comp sci and interviewing these days. 🙂
@muddylaces I very much want to start a co-op program but it's difficult rn with a fully remote team. It's on my agenda to try to get it set up this year though😕
@womp You aren’t actually looking for engineers, though, are you. You want programmers. In Canada ‘engineer’ is a protected title, as it’s a profession that requires being responsible for safety, among other things. In the awful country south of us I don’t think people care about such trivial issues so the title is abused to confer status. I only mention because of the Canadian hashtags you’ve used.
@edwiebe @womp Alberta being the outlier as a bill had been introduced that allowed the term software engineer without APEGA accreditation… Basically everywhere else it infers a professional designation by the responsible provincial body… https://engineerscanada.ca/become-an-engineer/use-of-professional-title-and-designations
Use of professional title and designations | Engineers Canada

In Canada, not just anyone can use the title engineer. To practice engineering and use the title engineer, you must be licensed by the engineering regulator for the province/ territory where the title is being used. Regulation minimizes risks to public safety and ensures that these activities are conducted by licensed engineers who are held to high professional and ethical standards that require them to work in the public interest.
