My car-loving friends have heard of my love for the 1961-63 Thunderbird; In 1970, when I was 17, I bought a 1961 White T-bird convertible with a light blue interior for $500. It's still one of the cars I most wish I still owned.

This article points out that Elwood Engel's gorgeous 1961 Lincoln design originated in a concept sketch for this T-bird (there's a photo of the sketch in the article.)

Speaking of the Elwood Engel Lincoln Continental, after I posted the Thunderbird article we went out to brunch at Billy Reed's, an iconic Palm Springs cafe. When we came out, what was parked outside but this beautiful restoration.

I don't think pink was a factory color, but combined with the (also not factory) leopard print fabric interior trim inserts, it certainly gives off Palm Springs flair!

@donaldham This post has caused me to learn that Pink Cadillac was written by Bruce Springsteen…
@donaldham cars need more chrome and fins. And leopard print.

@donaldham
Nice.

I notice you didn't take any shots from the car-alarm-equipped pickup truck side of things. Probably a good call.

I actually didn't even notice the doggie until I was finished taking photos, but it turned out to be a friendly dog!
