Not much to say about this one. I went by this place the other day and thought to myself that I wanted to paint it. So I did.

@Ulisu it's very atmospheric, well done!

Question: when you paint, do you think 2D or 3D?
Sometimes, If I don't understand what I'm seeing/painting, I just look closely and match colors and angles: bit more pink here, rather grayish there, here's a hard edge, there's a soft gradient. Not very artistic, but it works.
In other cases I need to understand and 'feel' the dimensions, temperature etc: eyeball curves like this, the skin is wet, the heat is shining through leaves.

What's your process?

@megaphon thank you <3
As for your question, that’s quite hard to simply answer haha!
Well, when painting I have several concepts that guide me (through process, intuition and thinking)
First it is paramount to get the fundamental technique right: proportions, values etc. controlling them means having control over what I want to do with what’s in front of me. I guess this is what you would call 2D since I am trying to get the shapes on the panel to be in order and I am working in the flat

Secondly, I am trying to use the shapes I have to express the gestalts of the impression I want to convey. Amongst others, this means trying to get a sense of light and a sense of form through the right strokes with the right color on the right place. I suppose the sense of form is what you’d call 3D, though the principles to attain that here are many fold. For example through the diagonal lines getting linear perspective or darker vs lighter shapes having light and shadow on objects.
