I am probably one of the few people who know how to use a microwave transformer to do that wood arcing thing safely.

And yet I choose not to.

Interesting.

For the love of god, please stop doing that shit. The Dunning Kruger level is high. You might think you know what you're doing but I guarantee you do not. Stupidly high voltage does not obey the laws you're used to.
I was going to say that @Extelec is also trusted to do it but he's already picked up on this.

See his HV displays at EMFCamp - they're superb.

Phat bass provided solely by arcing electricity.
I remember the first time I got referred to as "the high voltage one" at work and and wondered how the fuck that happened.

It wasn't until our 10x contractor did a bit of HV work while shitting his pants that I realised I may have known a bit more than I thought.
@jamesb Mine were the small ones, Steve owned the large one.

@jamesb I really wanted to give that a shot. I know the theory, force the wood to conduct by using silly volts, revel in the pretty burns.
So I looked into it. I saw the volts. I saw the horror stories.

I'm gonna stick to #3dprinting and resin. I'll keep 24v my absolute maximum. Having tasted 240v twice in my life, I'll give this a miss.
(I do use a tens machine, but the amps are so very low. Still hurts!)

@jamesb I too know how.... But choose not to! I know enough about elctroconicals to know to stay away from the really REALLY buzzy stuff.

@jamesb
Even I know better, and yes I know of you, have seen your work a while back.

I stopped playing with that shit a long time ago, a choice to grow old safely.

@jamesb My limit was (and remains, albeit rarely) de-energizing arcade monitors and the occasional retrocomputing tube display. WAY short of what you're describing, but dangerous enough for my tastes.
