here’s an app store app that is not only filled with emulators and roms, but gives you a regular apple pay sheet, instead of an in-app purchase, when you pay. 🫡

@cabel thank goodness for app review and the 30% tax to save us from predatory practices.

I see a PS2 in the screenshot tho. Surely that doesn’t work… does it? Or are they doing a JIT enable?

@Wavebeam hahah “coming soon”. ps1 and psp are the most modern consoles in this thing
@cabel Wow of course. I was almost impressed that the scam actually had a functional PS2 emulator. It’s certainly possible with JIT, but that’s not allowed for probably legitimate battery use concerns.
@cabel I just noticed there’s a Wii in there too!!!
@Wavebeam @cabel Because JIT increases performance, it lets the CPU spend more time idling than if you were doing the same work using an interpreter, so it actually decreases battery drain
@Wavebeam @cabel (There are some exceptional cases where using JIT can lower performance, but if that's the case, the app would have no reason to use JIT anyway)

@Wavebeam @JosJuice

Pretty sure JIT isn't allowed for security reasons because it lets you run native code that wasn't present in the app at review time.

@cabel And my Vision Pro app got rejected for not being "Legible", and when I compared my text size and contrast to Apple's built in apps, it was essentially identical.
@cabel Is this @delta?
@jsit @cabel @delta Definitely not. Delta doesn’t have a store and they wouldn’t put themselves into potential legal hot water that would get it and Altstore banned.
@cabel how the fuck did this get past app review what the fuck
@cabel where is the 30% going?????
@saige GREAT QUESTION LEAH, i would assume since this is a directly apple pay payment it is going into their pockets
@cabel i've seen apps that are like "app store editors picks" or whatever they're called that do the 'iAP via apple pay' thing so like.

@tay @cabel Apple made some change on this UI so it looks nearly the same for many IAPs

Have no idea what triggered this (I have a Brazilian account and can only select Brazilian-issued cards, maybe that's it?)

@felipecn @cabel IAPs have the app name & icon where as Apple Pay card payments just have the merchant name & price
@cabel I’ve seen this “ regular Apple Pay sheet” in apps before, it’s insidious, because the purchase flow is identical to an IAP
