Your interpretation
> The new code all works, and is at roughly feature parity with what we're replacing.
is biased and wrong.
David clearly means as "by default", i.e. SDDM continues to be a valid way of logging into Plasma, as there are many other ways. It would be insane to block other projects from being able to facilitate logging into Plasma. The only thing that changes is that the default will be PDM.
As for @vermaden, they deliberately used out of context screenshots and quotes to push FUD regarding Plasma. How would you qualify that?
@Bro666 We prefer a communication style that strives for understanding.
To the point: We said that someone **could** interpret something in a certain way. Subjunctive. Nothing more.
We understand that both @vermaden and you care about the well-being of their favorite projects. One is FreeBSD, the other is KDE. When it appeared that KDE might no longer support FreeBSD, vermaden reported on it and interpreted the “We” in the commit message as KDE/Plasma and not as PLM. 1/2
@Bro666 As it turned out, the “we” only referred to PLM, and so vermaden made a correction on the next day at https://mastodon.social/@vermaden@bsd.cafe/115940451929365518. Eight days later, you called him a liar.
We don't believe that @vermaden has anything against KDE on BSD. We think, and we may indeed be a little biased here, that KDE Plasma is one of the most comprehensive DEs on at least FreeBSD and OpenBSD, if not "the." Who would want to change that?
But vermaden is welcome to say so himself. 2/2

Pick any favorite search engine like duck.com or google.com and type 'vermaden' there ... and check what I have been doing for more then 20 years.
If - up to you - that is lies/FUD ... then I would not even argue about it ... and I am OK with your judgment.
I am like Keanu now ...
