Huh. So Ronald Lauder, the billionaire who owns Estee Lauder, is apparently the guy who convinced Trump that he should destroy NATO by invading Greenland.

Maybe don't buy shit from them? Here's a convenient list of their brands: https://www.elcompanies.com/en/our-brands

@dymaxion

And ofc (just in case some of your followers don’t know), his son-in-law Warsh is Trump’s nominee to chair the Fed.

Carney calls Trump’s U.S. Fed chair pick, Warsh, a ‘fantastic choice’

Prime Minister Mark Carney is offering his seal of approval on U.S. President Donald Trump’s pick to lead the U.S. Federal Reserve.

@dyckron @dymaxion

Gross. But not surprising. Most of what I’m seeing is blandly approving. Which is why Krugman’s piece is so important. (Yes, it’s Substack, sorry).

@lucybeahere @dymaxion

Who is mentioned in the epstein files...

@dymaxion I'm pretty sure without looking that I've been boycotting them since I was born 😂
@dymaxion
There are many companies who supported Trump that we should not buy stuff from: Amazon, Apple, Meta, McDonalds and many more. A worldwide boycott like that being done in Canada would serve notice to those oligarchs that their support of that damn devil comes with a cost.
@dymaxion Disappointed to see Tom Ford, Jo Malone, and Aveda are Estee Lauder brands! I had no idea and will discontinue buying these brands!
@dymaxion are these bransds all bullshit stuff for billionaires? I have never heard of any of these.
@gunstick
No. MAC, for instance, is one of the best known makeup brands in the world.
@dymaxion @gunstick don't EL have loads of 'fragrances' too?
Quite a lot of people buy perfume. I don't but, it's in every department store.
@dymaxion ah crap, that’s a lot of brands I buy from. Billionaires ruin everything
@ksylor @dymaxion Might be easier if someone makes a list of brands _not_ associated with empire building, genocide, concentration camps, ethnic cleansing, pedophilia, ...
@dymaxion phew! Their companies don't seem to stray beyond toiletries.
@dymaxion if you're in Europe and need an alternative for Lauder's cosmetics, Lush is British and quite ethical for a corporation: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lush_(company)#Ingredients_and_ethics

@dymaxion
A makeup industry billionaire?

Is there a lot of petroleum in make up?

@Nagaram
Genuinely trying to figure out if this is snark or you're just so detached from society that you have no idea how much money is spent on clothing and makeup (and about the structures of social pressure around it). Not sure I want the answer, though.
@dymaxion @Nagaram
Ironically there is petroleum in a lot of make up.

@dymaxion

Genuinely, just hadn't thought about oil inside of beauty products.

Hindsight it should have been obvious.

I never doubted that they were billionaires because of make up.

@dymaxion
why is destroying nato a bad thing?
@[email protected]
It must be so nice to live in a world where you can still think that geopolitical changes won't impact you personally.
@dymaxion Happy to report that I don't buy any of their crap. Lauder is jewish someone should ask him what he thinks about the persecution of jews during WWII.
