you cannot convince me that "Land Man" is a real show - every clip that I've seen is self parody
@tvaziri It has that “Virgin River” type show feel to it.

@tvaziri Bob Landman needs to remind us at all times that EVERYTHING ON EARTH depends on oil and rugged individualism only. At least that's what I get out of the clips.

Oh, and that Taylor Sheridan *definitely* is apolitical.

@virtualbri @tvaziri I watched it all and I'm still unsure it was real. My review was:

If you were interested in the answers to two questions: "How do oil billionaires feel about climate change, alternative energy and OSHA regulations?" and "Given a massive budget and 10 hours to do so, how would an incel write female characters?", then look no further. Take a little brain-vacation to the worst place in the world with the worst people in the world, written cartoonishly. https://jwz.org/b/ykgw

Afraid (2024): A not-bad entry in the Haunted Home Assistant genre. If you're like me the first hurdle you have to get over for a movie like this is that idea that artificial general intelligence is possible at all (it is not) but I also watch movies about vampires, zombies and werewolves and that's fine. The difference is that there are not currently grifters manipulating the economy with ...

@jwz @tvaziri LOL I don't need to see more than I have to believe that review.
@virtualbri @tvaziri Oh you absolutely should not watch it! Save yourself!

Put another incredible log on the fire of “maybe make your own blog again because it's fun” fire

Fucking great reviews here. lol

@tvaziri every poster Ive seen for it has been so offputting
@tvaziri For me, seeing Sam Elliott post-Big Lebowski is like seeing Leslie Nielsen post-Airplane — it’s *really* hard not to see the performance as parody, a comedic critique of their earlier serious roles.
@michaelgemar @tvaziri The only exception is his two or three apparences in "Parks and Recreation". Wonderfully low-key guest work.
@tvaziri Do I *know* you're right? YES. Does that stop me from watching and loving it? NO
@tvaziri Somehow season 2 was even more baffling self parody than S1. And that’s saying something.
