I would like a projector. I want to paint a mural on two doors. The idea is to design them on my iPad, project them, then paint the doors.
The projectors I've found are muy caro £££ but I won't need them for long so I can't justify the price. It doesn't have to be the best quality, just enough to get the basics down.
So, pocket frendos: Any ideas?
@book it's possible to build a very basic projector with a cardboard box and a magnifying glass - but it really only works well in very dark rooms. Sounds like you might need some light to work by.

That said, you can buy some pretty inexpensive projectors now, which whilst not great for watching movies, might allow you to get what you need on to your doors.

@book There appear to be lots of companies in the UK who will hire out a projector ... I don't know anything about prices or customer service but it might be worth a search.
I presume you'll pencil the outlines using the projector, and then do the painting in full light.

It's a symptom of capitalism where it's cheaper for large stores (like Currys, John Lewis etc) to get rid of stock and replace with new than it is deal with old stock.
I've got a couple of ACs from them (used returns). Mattress (new). Envelopes (new to send our coffee). Coffee machines, dish washer...
Keep in mind there are no returns if things are broken (which we've had) so sometimes you have waste to get rid of rather than a "new thing". Almost a form of gambling but overall, if you keep any hoarding tendencies in check, then you can get a bargain.

Another thing to consider might be an overhead projector, and the artwork printed on transparencies.
Maybe an old working OHP would be cheaper to buy. I got a flat pack portable one a while ago for similar reasons.
@alisynthesis I did consider this, genuinely, but the idea of having anything to do with amazon gave me the ick.

@annathecrow @book I came here to say this, and you can pick up old overhead projectors quite cheaply. The size and level of detail will be factors in whether this is viable.
If you have a lot of detail, then a pounce pattern is an option, either that you do yourself or have a print shop with a plotter run off for you.
As a last resort, gridding up and recreating the design square by square for the enlargement.
